Getting her start in the flourishing music scene of Southern California in the ’60s and ’70s, Karla Bonoff is one of the most quietly influential singer-songwriters of the 20th century. With songs penned for legends like Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt, Bonoff’s idiosyncratic melodies and keen ear for song has informed popular music for decades. Her music has been described as “earthly anthems of soul-searching, heartache, and joy-touched souls” (Billboard), and one listen to songs like “Someone to Lay Down Beside Me,” or “All My Life,” shows why Bonoff is one of the most important and talented songwriters of our time.
