Music comes in innumerable forms and styles, and yet few other forces can connect people as powerfully across languages, cultures, races, generations, and beliefs. Music is, as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said, “the universal language of mankind.”
Vocalist, pianist, and guitarist Sheyda Do’a taps into her peripatetic and multi-cultural upbringing, to lead this musical journey around the world to explore melodies and rhythms you may not expect to be paired. Join Do’a to discover how Albanian folk music, bossa nova, jazz, Scottish Highland tunes, and Afro-Cuban rhythms combine and speak to our common human aspiration and search for beauty.
This workshop is interactive. Come prepared to ask questions, learn Albanian vocabulary, and sing a few notes of your own.
Sponsored by Cathy Bernard/Bernard Family Foundation♪ and Richard and Melba Reichard♪
