The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Latin Dance Competition has traditionally been an annual event where MCPS High Schools compete in 9 different categories in the 4 most popular Latin dance styles. These categories are composed of 3 group performance categories, including Best in Show Junior, Best in Show Senior, and Alumni and 6 couple categories: cha-cha, merengue, bachata, salsa, parent-student, and Jack and Jill.
This year’s event will only include the 3 group categories. The couples competition will take place in Spring 2022.
This annual event is the signature county-wide event representing the Latino/Hispanic performing arts in Montgomery County and the state of Maryland. The event is sponsored by the After School Dance Fund/Baila4Life with grants from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, the Montgomery County Council, and MCPS. Other partial funding and in-kind contributions come from Visionary Eye Doctors, Carol Trawick, Strathmore, Verizon Foundation, TD Bank, and the Board of Education.
