An Array of Exciting Performances Await Music Lovers in the Heart of North Bethesda
(North Bethesda, MD) -- Strathmore announces 13 new shows for the Fall 2023 season at AMP, its intimate club-style venue nestled in the vibrant Pike & Rose neighborhood of North Bethesda. Tickets to all performances are on sale now.
Curated to delight music enthusiasts of all genres, these performances showcase Grammy-winning artists, electrifying ensembles, and a diverse range of musical styles, including jazz, blues, folk, and global sounds.
HIGHLIGHTS
The season launches in September with Brazilian guitar music by Latin Grammy winner Yamandu Costa, followed by another Grammy winner, Leyla McCalla, a former member of the African American string band Carolina Chocolate Drops. McCalla’s innovative folk pays homage to her Haitian heritage and her adopted home of New Orleans.
AMP transports audiences to a Spanish nightclub in October for Tablao Flamenco’s two powerful and passionate dance performances. At the end of the month, Strathmore Artists in Residence alumni James Fernando and Mark G. Meadows return to the stage for an encore of their popular improvisational dual-piano show, Two Pianos. Plus, American bluegrass band Hawktail and Swedish folk duo Väsen come together for a long-awaited collaboration.
In November, AMP welcomes the inimitable French guitarist Stephane Wrembel, whose band, Django New Orleans, infuses traditional New Orleans music with the unique sound of Sinti jazz guitar. Kevin Burt, an overnight sensation (with 25 years of experience!), sings the blues, and in a co-presentation with District of Raga, Soles of Duende explores the connections between tap, flamenco, and Kathak, a form of Indian classical dance.
