Step into bēheld’s immersive concert experience, where melodies become time machines, calling forth our shared and personal histories. The theme of the evening's salon-style performance, is nostalgia. A note from the artists:
Nostalgia (nos·tal·gia)
ˈnɒst(ə)ldʒə, nəˈstæl.dʒə
noun
A sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, often tied to cherished moments, places, and experiences.
The warmth of Mom’s signature dish, the sizzle of a hot comb on Saturday mornings, the crisp scent of the forest in autumn. Moments that shape us, songs that transport us—music is the key that unlocks the past, stirring sights, sounds, and emotions long tucked away. The pure present is an ungraspable advance of the past devouring the future. In truth, all sensation is already memory (Henri Bergson).
bēheld are fierce and free women creating music, community, and sisterhood. They have performed for worship services, events, conferences, public demonstrations, private salons, and even at the vigil honoring the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Their repertoire spans social justice songs of the past 75 years, combined with pop and soul songs of today that honor the work of women, the challenges we face in an increasingly demanding and cruel world, and the joy we experience when we find a community that recognizes and celebrates all that we are, all that we hold, and all that we bring.
