Vocal collaborators Danielle Talamantes and Kerry Wilkerson, along with composer Henry Dehlinger, present original art songs written for their voices. Selections include the poetry of Dante Alighieri, James Joyce, T.S. Eliot, and biblical texts from Song of Solomon. A resonant singer with unique evenness in register, baritone Kerry Wilkerson has been described by the Washington Post as an ‘exuberant’ performer having the “amber tone of a lyric baritone with the imposing weight demanded by Handel’s low-lying writing.” Soprano Danielle Talamentes has been hailed as a prolific and versatile artist, with repertoire ranging from fiery fioritura to lush warmth and soaring crystalline heights.
Audiences will remember Dehlinger’s most recent composition, Cosmic Cycles, which was commissioned by National Philharmonic in partnership with NASA Goddard. You may also remember the National Philharmonic’s premiere of his Rhapsody for Soprano and Orchestra, ‘The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock’, in October of 2021; a work written for and performed by Danielle Talamantes. In addition to his works written for orchestra, Dehlinger is a prolific composer of songs for the voice. This program will feature many different styles which will enthrall and capture listeners of all ages.
The 8:30pm performance has been cancelled.
