During the early COVID-19 lockdown, married violinist Elena Urioste and pianist Tom Poster began to collaborate as a way of keeping their minds sharp, fingers busy, and community smiling. Sharing videos of their multi-genre musical offerings on social media with the hashtag #UriPosteJukebox, the two built a community around their imaginative and fun virtual performances during a time of limitation.
The duo will present an eclectic selection of music, ranging from Bach to Boulanger, to Poster’s Great American Songbook arrangements. Audience members will have the opportunity to vote on music selections during the concert for a one-of-a-kind, interactive, Jukebox concert experience.
Urioste and Poster are the proud recipients of a 2020 Royal Philharmonic Society Inspiration Award for the Jukebox project, as well as a 2021 RPS Enterprise Fund Trailblazer Grant. Their subsequent studio album, The Jukebox Album, featuring songs ranging from Cole Porter and Stephen Sondheim to Gabriel Fauré and traditional Irish folk, won a 2022 BBC Music Magazine Award.
