A protégé of jazz master Dizzy Gillespie, Arturo Sandoval is a renowned trumpet and flugelhorn player as well as classical artist, pianist, and composer. One of the most dynamic and vivacious live performers of our time, Sandoval has received numerous accolades for his work, including 10 Grammys, six Billboard Awards, and an Emmy.
Pedro Pablo “Pedrito” Martínez, a percussionist, has a background in rumba and Afro-Cuban Yoruba traditions. Pedrito has collaborated with a variety of artists in rock, jazz, pop, and other genres, including Paul Simon, Wynton Marsalis, Paquito D’Rivera, Bruce Springsteen, Ruben Blades, Eddie Palmieri, Dave Matthews, and Sting. A consummate master of Afro-Cuban folkloric music and the batá drum he is also the go-to rumbero—playing, singing, and dancing with dozens of Cuban rumba groups.
