Grammy- and Latin Grammy-winning band Plena Libre revisits traditional bomba and plena music from Puerto Rico, blending Afro-Caribbean and jazz styles. Led by founder and bassist Gary Nuñez, the band’s spirited percussionists and loud brass have captivated audiences for 30 years, boasting 15 albums and an appointment in 2019 as the Don Michael Randel Ensemble-in-Residence at The University of Chicago. Their electrifying performances honor Afro-Puerto Rican musical traditions while infusing them with vibrant new sounds, encouraging audiences to get up and dance.

La banda Plena Libre, ganadora de premios Grammy y Latin Grammy, revisita la música tradicional de bomba y plena de Puerto Rico, fusionando estilos afrocaribeños y de jazz. Liderada por el fundador y bajista Gary Nuñez, los percusionistas enérgicos y los potentes metales de la banda han cautivado a las audiencias durante 30 años, con 15 álbumes y un nombramiento en 2019 como el Don Michael Randel Ensemble-in-Residence en la Universidad de Chicago. TIPS FOR A GREAT VISIT

The Gudelsky Gazebo is located directly across the driveway from the Mansion.
Parking is in the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro garage off Tuckerman Lane and is payable by SmarTrip or credit card.
Members at the Two Star level and above can park in the Mansion lot when attending Live from the Lawn events. Upon entry, please display your VIP Parking Pass on your dashboard and follow the instructions from security personnel. View more detailed information here.

Accessible parking is available in the Mansion lot on a first-come, first-served basis. A government-issued disability placard or plate is required. Enter the Mansion lot at 10701 Rockville Pike, at the low brick walls that say “Strathmore.”

NEW! Order a pre-made dinner basket and drinks before the show. Choose from an assortment of curated meal boxes and beverage add-ons for a customized concert-side feast. Preorders must be made by noon the day of the performance and can be picked up in the Allegro Kitchen in the Music Center. Order your basket here.

Ben & Jerry’s will have ice cream options available for purchase to satisfy your sweet tooth, weather permitting.
You're welcome to BYO food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Outside alcohol is not permitted on property.

Low-rise chairs and blankets welcome.
We discourage the use of high chairs, but if you choose to bring one, please be considerate and sit toward the back of the lawn. Our team will ask those in higher chairs to move back if seated in a location that will block others’ view of the stage.
While we are not limiting capacity on the lawn, we encourage you to be mindful of other guests and provide space whenever possible.
Pets and comfort/emotional support animals are not permitted at Live from the Lawn events.
Trained Service Animals are permitted.

We encourage you to RSVP to receive updates. In case of inclement weather, concerts are moved indoors. Check Strathmore’s Facebook page or visit strathmore.org for up-to-date information.

Capacity for this event will be limited if the show moves indoors. Seating will be first-come, first-served.
