Dong Xi is a genre-blending duo that bridges East and West through the virtuosic talents of percussionist Tom Teasley and Chinese dulcimer player Chao Tian. In a unique setting of "controlled improvisation," Dong Xi crafts spontaneous musical dialogues, merging the subtleties of the Chinese dulcimer with the explosive textures of world percussion. Their name, meaning "East West" and inspired by a Chinese idiom, reflects their surprising, playful approach to music-making.
Winners of the WAMMIE Award for Best World Music Artist/Group, Dong Xi's immersive performances represent a never-ending quest to fascinate, inspire, and discover new sounds.
