Allison Miller, award-winning DMV-native drummer, composer, and teacher, brings her acclaimed band Boom Tic Boom to the Strathmore AMP stage.
Boom Tic Boom, founded in 2008, has released five critically acclaimed albums, the most recent being, Glitter Wolf, lauded by NPR's Kevin Whitehead for its seamless cohesion. The album received widespread critical acclaim, earning 4.5 stars from Downbeat, and Miller's composition "Otis Was a Polar Bear" was named by NPR as one of the "200 Greatest Songs by 21st Century Women+."
Most recently, Miller received Chamber Music America's Interdisciplinary Collaboration of the Year Award for her mixed media conservation suite, "Rivers In Our Veins," which premiered at Strathmore in 2023. Allison Miller’s Boom Tic Boom's impressive resume also includes features on NPR’s Fresh Air, Tiny Desk, and Jazz Night in America, as well as performances at prestigious jazz festivals worldwide.
