Becky Hill was born with rhythm in her feet. This sought-after percussive dancer, Appalachian square dance caller, and choreographer “slides and shuffles her feet with the precision of snare brushes” (NPR Music).
As an avid community organizer and teacher, Hill’s work is deeply rooted in the connections between music and community. She believes there is always more to learn and is dedicated to creating innovative choreography that blurs the lines between music and dance.
Her Patio Stage performance is a journey through folk music and percussive dance that features collaborations with improvisational singer Rui Fu and classical Chinese dancer Rose Xinran Qi, jazz, Congolese rumba and more with rhythm tap dancer Katharine Manor and Daniel Coolik, and the premiere of a new work with Baltimore based composer and DJ Erik Spangler.
