Bloom programs are designed to expand access to the arts through school programs and community collaborations. 70% of Bloom programs take place out in neighborhoods around the county, and nearly all include creative partnerships with local organizations, schools, and artists.

Art Sessions & Free Summer Camps
In collaboration with the Department of Recreation and Adventist Health, Strathmore provides multi-disciplinary arts sessions as part of a 7-week free summer camp which serves a total of 300 children.
Community Festivals
Strathmore works closely with community leaders to produce diverse performances at existing local festivals with our Bloom Pop-Up Stage.

Sensory Friendly Programming
Working with national experts, Strathmore continues to increase the scope of programming for children with sensory sensitivities—including backstage tours, rehearsals, concerts, and story sessions.
Arts Through Schools
Student Concerts at Strathmore
24,000 children annually experience the wonder of live performance at Strathmore. We produce and present free concerts for every 2nd and 5th grader in Montgomery County focusing on classical music and the blues.
East County Strings
Hundreds of middle school students receive tuition-free after-school coaching from professional instrumentalists and gather for a large-scale public performance.
North County Strings & Percussion
Middle and high school students learn Latin American music for strings and orchestra, and get an opportunity to perform for the community.
Think Big Café
A partnership with MCPS and Glenstone where 10th-grade International Baccalaureate students receive support and inspiration from local artists for their Middle Years Program Personal Projects.
Step Up East County
Students receive after-school instruction from our artistic partner Step Afrika!. Strathmore brings students to see a professional step performance at the Music Center and produces a culminating student showcase performance.
School Partnerships & Artist Residencies
Strathmore works with educators to create a customized slate of performances, workshops, camps, and demonstrations throughout the year–particularly at schools with a high number of free or reduced cost lunches offered.
