Beauty and the Beast-Inspired Celebration
Newlyweds Jenae and Alicia share a love of Disney and books, so it was only fitting that their cozy winter wedding at the Mansion at Strathmore was inspired by Beauty and the Beast—complete with countless roses.
When searching for a mansion-style venue, they prioritized finding a space without a history of slavery. They fell in love with the Mansion for its dedication to the arts and commitment to uplifting diverse voices.
On their big day in December, Alicia got ready in the Mansion’s bridal suite before making a grand entrance down the staircase for an emotional first look with Jenae. They then joined their 70 guests in the Music Room for an intimate ceremony, followed by a lively reception.
The evening was filled with personal touches—a live painter capturing the celebration, hidden portraits of their pets in the art gallery, and embossed books from their personal library as party favors. The only hiccup? Alicia admits that cutting the wedding cake was trickier than expected. “I told you we should have practiced this!” teases Jenae.
