Accessibility

Several specially marked parking spaces for cars and vans with tags or placards designated for disability parking are available in the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro garage on Tuckerman Lane; 12 are on the Strathmore side of the garage. The garage, operated by Metro, connects to the Music Center at Strathmore via the flat Carlton R. Sickles Memorial Sky Bridge on the 4th level on the Strathmore side of the garage. The Sky Bridge is accessible from every level of the garage via its elevators. At the end of each Concert Hall ticketed event in the Music Center at Strathmore, the gates of the garage will be open for 30 minutes allowing patrons to exit. For early departures, or late departures (up to 90 minutes after this 30 minute period) patrons must show a ticket stub to the Metro attendant to exit without paying.

At non-performance times, Monday–Friday, parking in the garage is $5.20 and may be paid using a Metro SmarTrip card, available for a fee at all Metro Stations, or by a major credit card at the single exit lane as indicated. Currently, parking on Saturdays and Sundays in the Metro garage is free.

The Mansion lot, located off of Rockville Pike, is used exclusively for events that take place in the Mansion at Strathmore and short-term daytime ticket office transactions. It is not available during Music Center performances.

Valet and patron drop-off is located at the Circle Plaza entry to the Music Center at Strathmore at 5301 Tuckerman Lane. Patrons who enter the Music Center at this entrance are brought to the Discovery Channel Grand Foyer via elevator. Valet parking is available for $20 (cash only). Cars must be moved to the Metro garage after dropping off patrons in the Circle Plaza entry. 

The Metro garage parking lot is about 330 feet from Strathmore's entrance. Benches and emergency telephones are located on the Sky Bridge. Strathmore provides complimentary golf cart shuttle service for patrons who need assistance traversing the distance of the Sky Bridge to the main entrance of the Music Center. Golf cart shuttle service begins 90 minutes before the concert start time and will run until at least 30 minutes after the concert concludes.

Both of the main entrances have power-assisted doors.

Accessible parking spaces are located near the west side of the Mansion. To access the Mansion by elevator, please use the accessible door located on the west side of the building using the accessible ramp.  

The Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro station is immediately adjacent to Strathmore. The walk from the exit of the Metro station to the garage entrance is about 330 feet. Public transportation to Strathmore via Metro and Ride On buses drop patrons off at the Metro station. Please see the Directions & Parking page for further information.

The drop-off address for patrons using Metro Access is 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda, Maryland 20852.

The Concert Hall and Education Center are accessible at all levels via both elevators and ramps. The ticket office has wheelchair accessible windows. Courtesy telephones with volume controls are available behind the Ticket Office, in the Comcast Circles Lounge, the Promenade Right Lobby, and the Circle Plaza.

Accessible water fountains and restrooms are available. Four unisex restrooms are available that patrons can use with a companion located on the Promenade near the Café, behind the Ticket Office, and on the Grand Tier house right near the elevators.

As a courtesy, Strathmore offers wheelchairs on loan to patrons who wish to use them throughout the Music Center. They will be available from the entrances at Circle Plaza and Discovery Channel Grand Foyer. Patrons can pick up a complimentary wheelchair on a first-come, first-served basis at the coatroom with a driver’s license or other acceptable photo ID.

Seating for patrons who use wheelchairs or scooters is available in all sections and at all price levels in the Music Center at Strathmore. Each accessible seating location has at least one adjacent companion seat.

For patrons who can transfer to a fixed theater seat, aisle seats with moveable armrests are available. The Concert Hall also has chairs without arms to be used in the boxes for patrons who request a wider chair.

Seating close to the stage is available for patrons with visual impairments.

The Music Center at Strathmore is equipped with a Radio Frequency Assistive Listening System for patrons who are hard of hearing. Patrons can pick up complimentary assistive listening devices on a first-come, first-served basis prior to the performance at the coatroom with a driver’s license or other acceptable photo ID. All devices are equipped with an integrated neck loop for individuals with telecoil-equipped hearing aids and cochlear implants. Headphones are also available for use with the system. 

The Music Center at Strathmore can arrange for sign-interpreted performances or cued speech transliteration upon request. Patrons should contact the Ticket Office no later than 14 days prior to the performance and specify what type of interpretation is preferred. Sign interpretation or cued speech transliteration of a performance will be arranged when there is a request for a signed performance and a ticket(s) for that performance is purchased.

Open captioning is scheduled for select Music Center at Strathmore performances and services the front house left orchestra seating area. To purchase tickets for these performances in the open captioning area, please call the Ticket Office at 301.581.5100 (voice) or 800.735.2258 (TTY). The Music Center at Strathmore also offers captioning upon request. Requests to caption non-designated performances must be received at least 14 days before the performance and a ticket must be purchased for that performance. This service is dependent upon the availability of a captioner. 

Audio described performances are available for theatrical events where action is critical to the aesthetic experience. Patrons can pick up audio description devices for these performances at the coatroom with a driver’s license or other acceptable photo ID. Please call the ticket office at least 14 days in advance to request audio description and to determine if it will be available for a particular performance. Narration services are provided by Washington Ear.

Large print programs can be made for all performances where there is a standard complimentary program. Please call the Ticket Office at least 14 days in advance to request a large print program. Patrons can pick up the programs from the usher at the ticket-taking location.

Audio programs and programs formatted for screen readers may be available upon request. Please contact the Ticket Office at least 14 days in advance to request a program in an alternative format.
